How Can it Help My Business?

If you own an online business, then you’ve likely heard of SEO, but what is SEO? Search Engine Optimisation, or “SEO” for short, is the method by which content may be improved to aid the visibility and ranking of your websites on search engines like Google and Bing. The higher your website appears on search engine results pages (SERPs), the more people are going to see it. And the more people that view your website, the more business you’re likely to get.

That’s why SEO is so important for online businesses of all sizes. Whether you’re a small family-run business or a large corporation, good SEO can make all the difference in terms of getting found by potential customers online.

It can seem daunting at first, but it doesn’t have to be. In this blog post, we’ll discuss what you need to know about SEO and how it can help your business grow.

What is SEO?

Like we said before, “SEO” stands for Search Engine Optimisation. But what does that mean, exactly?

There are considered to be two types of optimisation: on-page and off-page. On-page optimisation refers to the steps you can take to make sure your website is as search engine friendly as possible so that search engine bots can crawl your site and understand the content. On-page optimisation includes making sure your website’s code is clean and well-organized ( in the case of WordPress choosing a good theme), using keyword-rich titles and descriptions, offering a good user experience, ensuring images add value and can be seen and read by both human users and search engine bots and creating high-quality content regularly. Off-page optimization, on the other hand, refers to all the steps you can take to promote your website offline and increase its authority in the eyes of search engines. This can include things like building backlinks from other websites and social media platforms, as well as making sure your website is listed in relevant online directories.

Both on-page and off-page optimization are important for getting good results from SEO. However, if we had to choose one as being more important than the other, we would say that on-page optimization is slightly more important simply because it’s something that you have more control over than off-page factors.

Why is SEO important for businesses?

In short, because it gets you eyes on your website and can increase your earnings. According to a study by Hubspot, nearly 60% of marketers say that inbound marketing—of which SEO is a part—is their top source of leads. And another study by Content Marketing Institute showed that companies who have blogs get 97% more links to their websites than those who don’t.

In other words, if you want people to find your website—and if you want your business to grow—SEO should be at the top of your list when it comes to marketing activities.

SEO can initially seem like a bit of a mystery, sorcery even but hopefully this blog post has shed some light on what it is and why it’s so important for businesses. If you’re ready to increase your business online visibility to the next level, contact us today to find out how we can help.
